University of Hawaiʻi Athletics

The University of Hawaiʻi has a historical arsenal of Samoan and Pacific Islander players in its athletics programs, from gridiron football to volleyball. Samoans have penetrated nearly every aspect of sports within the university system, and this is evident in the myriad of sports lineages spread throughout various national and international legacies.

Samoan language, especially, has a strong presence in the athletics program, with the Samoan program at the Mānoa campus enrolling players of both Samoan and non-Samoan descent.
