MANU SĀMOA PLAYERS

Perhaps the most diverse and experienced team of all time, this year's squad for Sāmoa features several former All Blacks such as Lima Sopoʻaga, Charlie Faumuinā, and Steven Luātua, and former Wallaby fly-half Christian Lealiʻifano.

Only one local player, Melani Matāvao, who was in the previous World Cup in 2019, and a regular on the Manu Sāmoa Sevens team, was included in this year's squad. Eleven players were included from the Moana Pasifika club.

The last time Sāmoa made it past the pool stages was in 1995 and they won only one match in the previous campaign in 2019 in Japan.
